A Nidus-trained volunteer will meet with seniors to help them decide about planning for the future. The appointments are 30 minutes and are free. Seniors can book another appointment if needed.

Literary Afternoon: The Lost Canadians

Join us, Sunday January 21, 2018, for a presentation by Don Chapman, recipient of the Senate’s new Canada 150 Anniversary Medal for Unsung Heroes and author of The Lost Canadians. Light refreshments will be served. 

Over one million people, including Romeo Dalaire, Frank Gehry, Nobel winners Willard Boyle and Saul Bellow, Vancouver war vet Kathleen Freemont, Montreal Rabbi Schneur Rabbin, owe Don Chapman thanks for Bill C-37, which helped people regain the Canadian Citizenship they never knew they lost. 

Hosted by: The CHW Book Club (Children Healthcare Women). The book The Lost Canadians will be on sale for $20, or available in advance at the CHW Vancouver Office: 304B- 950 West 41st Avenue.

EEE #2 Film: Broadway Musicals, a Jewish Legacy

Our second Empowerment Series features Broadway Musicals, a Jewish Legacy. This documentary by Michael Kantor and narrated by Joel Grey explores the unique role of Jewish composers and lyricists in the creation of the modern American Musical. The film will be followed by a light nosh. Cosponsored by JCC Seniors. 

 

Engaging, humorous, and provocative, Broadway Musicals: A Jewish Legacy examines the unique role of Jewish composers and lyricists in the creation of the modern American musical. The film showcases the work of legends such as Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George and Ira Gershwin, Lorenz Hart, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim.
