Event viewing instructions:

1.  You will see the events of the whole month, in small segments, in the colour of the organization, with the title of the event and the time,
2.  Put your cursor on the event and you will see a small pop-up box with the name of the event, the time and price,
3.  Now left double-click on the event itself: a full -page window will open, with all the information about the event. This window has a white background and black distinctive easy- to- see writing.

Genealogy Sundays @ The Jewish Museum

For those researchers who feel that they need extra help with their genealogical research, representatives from the Jewish Genealogical Institute of BC are available to assist with genealogical queries. Free access to our databases-(ancestry.com, findmypast.com )  and computers at Jewish Museum & Archives of BC is available on the last Sunday of each month. Phone for appointment, 604-257-5199.

These databases are available for anyone’s use free of charge, during the operating hours of the Jewish Museum and Archives of British Columbia. A nominal charge will be made for document photocopies. Researchers must book an appointment with the Archivist to use the programs. Appointments will be booked in two hour blocks.

Sunday, November 18, 2018  Lillian Boraks-Nemetz is an award-winning author, child survivor and VHEC Outreach Speaker. Lillian will discuss her most recent book Mouth of truth: Buried Secrets. This includes a docent-led tour.

Sunday, December 9, 2018  Amalia Boe-Fishman is a child survivor and VHEC Outreach Speaker. Amalia will talk about her loaned artefacts that are currently on display in the In Focus exhibition. This includes a docent-led tour.  

Sunday, January 27, 2019  Richard Lowy is a member of the Second Generation. Richard shares the story of his father Leo Lowy (z”l), Holocaust survivor of Dr. Mengele’s experiments. 

Richard’s talk is followed by a screening of the film Leo’s Journey, a 60-minute documentary chronicling the firsthand story of Nazi Doctor Josef Mengele and his “medical experiments” on Jewish twins in Auschwitz during World War ll. Leo Lowy’s heart-wrenching journey is interwoven with historical footage and interviews. A docent-led tour is included.

Erev Limmud – Saturday evening Havdallah, four sessions to choose from, shmooze and nosh.

Sunday – full day of Jewish learning. Kosher lunch – dairy or pareve. Note that there is no advance registration for individual sessions. First come, first seated.

Current ticket pricing applies until January 1, 2020. After that, general admission price rises to $65.00.

Limmud strives to be affordable to all community members. Tickets by donation enable pay-what-you-can pricing.

The actual cost of Limmud is $100 per person. We rely on the generosity of community members to make our dynamic, interactive, world-class day of learning affordable.

Tax receipts are available to donors, along with gratitude.
