Thank You for Joining Us: Nov 3rd AGM and Dinner Event Highlights
The Jewish Seniors Alliance hosted its successful 21st Annual General Meeting and Dinner on November 3rd at Beth Israel Synagogue, marking a significant milestone for the organization.
During the AGM, JSA elected its Board of Directors appointing Chair Tammi Belfer for one more year and adding four new members to the Board for 2025: Isobel Mackenzie, Shelly Moris, Earl Krieger, and Jeff Topp. These appointments further strengthen the organization’s leadership as it continues its important work in the senior community.
A key highlight of the AGM was the passing of a constitutional amendment to change the organization’s name from the Jewish Seniors Alliance of Greater Vancouver to the Jewish Seniors Alliance of British Columbia. This change reflects JSA’s expanding role in advocacy work throughout the province, including extending outreach efforts like Senior Line Magazine province-wide. The new name also provides the opportunity to impact more seniors across BC, no matter where they reside. Additionally, the membership approved changes to the by-laws to better accommodate the appointment of JSA’s Executive Director, Jeff Moss.
The dinner that followed was co-chaired by Tamara Frankel and Tammi Belfer and was a resounding success, with over 125 attendees. The event honored two distinguished individuals with Community Impact Awards: former Seniors Advocate of BC Isobel Mackenzie and former MLA Selina Robinson, both of whom have made significant contributions to seniors’ welfare and community advocacy. JSA Board member and Governance Chair Tony Dumoulin, who has served as the past Advocacy Committee Chair, was also recognized with the JSA Star Award for his unwavering commitment to the organization.
This AGM and Dinner underscored the vital role JSA continues to play in the lives of seniors in British Columbia, advocating for their rights and well-being across the province.
