Our Core Services
Senior Peer Support
The Senior Peer Support Program at Jewish Seniors Alliance fosters meaningful connections and emotional resilience among older adults, helping them navigate challenges such as isolation, grief, and life transitions with compassion and dignity. Through trained volunteers, who listen without judgment and offer consistent companionship, seniors rediscover a sense of purpose and belonging within their community.

Friendly Visiting/Walking
The Friendly Visitor Program at Jewish Seniors Alliance helps older adults navigate isolation and loneliness by supporting then through regular companionship. Volunteers receive free training and gain valuable skills in supporting seniors with age-related challenges, building team interactions, and increasing personal growth.
Key Features:
- In-home visits to promote companionship and reduce isolation.
- Engagement in activities and hobbies that bring joy and stimulation.
- A bridge to community resources and services tailored to the seniors' needs.
All clients must be:
- Age 55+
- Live in the Greater Vancouver Area
- Interested in being matched with a caring volunteer mentor.
- Able to meet with a volunteer regularly for an hour a week.
- In need of volunteer to help with loneliness and isolation.
We warmly welcome applications year-round from those who would like to request a support volunteer! We value all applicants and will be in contact on a first-come, first-serve basis for the upcoming term.
After we process your referral form, we contact you or the client (if referred by a case manager) to schedule an intake interview. Based on the information we received during the interview, the Volunteer Coordinator will start looking for a volunteer to match with you. You will have an opportunity to hear about and meet the volunteer before you both decide if it is a good match. The Volunteer Coordinator you are assigned will be in close touch and available to you if questions or concerns should arise.
