Gloria Levi – Gerontologist and Author

Gloria Levi, gerontologist, author, politician, social activist,  adventurer, wise elder will be our honoree October 27th. Although she has lived in Vancouver since 1952, she was born of Jewish Eastern-European in Brooklyn, New York. Yiddish was her first language.

Gloria’s interest in gerontology began with her work in the Golden AGe Club at the JCC in 1966.  She has contributed to the field of gerontology for more than thirty years and has not wavered since that day. Sshe has been a recreation worker, trainer, consultant, coordinator of volunteers, social worker, and writer in the field.

Gloria has been the mother of five, grandmother of eleven young-adult grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is an active member of Congregation Or Shalom.

Michael Lee – MLA for Vancouver-Langara

Michael was elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Langara in 2017 and re-elected in 2020, and serves as the Official Opposition Critic for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation. He has served as the Official Opposition Critic for Transportation, Infrastructure and TransLink, Official Opposition Critic for Justice, and as the Parliamentary Secretary for Affordable Housing. Michael is the Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Parliamentary Reform, Ethical Conduct, Standing Orders and Private Bills and is a member of the Select Standing Committees on Aboriginal Affairs and on Legislative Initiatives.

Prior to his election, Michael was a business lawyer. Before obtaining his law degree, he worked as a Special Assistant to the Right Honourable Kim Campbell in Vancouver and Ottawa. He also holds a BSc in Biology, a BA (Hons) in Political Science and an MA degree in Political Science. A son of Hong Kong immigrants, Michael was born and raised in Vancouver. He and his wife Christina have three young adult children.
