ministrator of the L’Chaim Adult Day Care Centre. Leah is also the former
Seniors Program Coordinator of the JCCGV\, a job she had from 2007-2017.
Leah received her Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University in Ottawa\, On
tario\, a Counseling Families in an Aging Population certificate from the
University of British Columbia and a Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Geronto
logy from Simon Fraser University. She completed the Jewish Experientia
l Leadership Institute Program\, an online and in-person leadership progra
m specifically designed for Jewish professionals. Leah has been
serving on various boards for Jewish senior’s subsidized housing for mor
e than 20 years. She also serves on the Haro Park Centre Board\, a campus
of care\, and is a past president. She works with several Vancouver Age
ncies\, collaborating on a variety of projects and programs for seniors.

as an art form. Tony DuMoulin Tony DuMoulin was born and raised in Vancouver\, practiced
law here for 40 years\, and retired 10 years ago. He has served on the boa
rds and executives of many non-profits over the years. Currently he is a b
oard and executive committee member of Jewish Seniors’ Alliance\, and serv
e as chair of its Advocacy Committee. He has a wife\, two daughters and fi
ve grandchildren with whom he is fortunate to be able to share much joyful
time. Rosa Tesler (Chu
ly) Rosa and her family immigrated to Canada in 1976. The
y spent 3 years in Winnipeg before relocating to Vancouver in 1979. Prior
to leaving Argentina\, Rosa earned a BA in psychology from the National U
niversity of Buenos Aires\, kept busy as a homemaker and volunteer while h
er husband practiced as a psychiatrist. In Canada\, Rosa undertook traini
ng that allowed her to work in early childhood education and counselling.
She chose to retire in 2018 after a lengthy career at the Chimo Crisis Ce

\nGloria’s interest in gerontology began with her work in the Golden A Ge Club at the JCC in 1966. She has contributed to the field of gerontolo gy for more than thirty years and has not wavered since that day. Sshe has been a recreation worker\, trainer\, consultant\, coordinator of voluntee rs\, social worker\, and writer in the field.
\nGloria has been the mother of five\, grandmother of eleven young-adult grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She is an active member of Congregation Or Shalom. p>\n
Michael Lee – MLA for Vancouver-Langara

Simon Fraser University Graduate Students Rachelle Patille\, Cari Randa\, and Boah Kim share their research on intergenerational connection s\, dementia-friendly communities\, and the roles of informal caregivers f or older adults.
\nRachelle Patille
\nRachelle is a third-year Gerontology Graduate Student at SFU wh o’s research focuses on the impact of intergenerational connections and re lationships on older adults in a society that is segregated by age and div ided generationally. She has been involved in the InterGenNS Project [Inte rgenerational North Shore Project] since the summer of 2020 which aims to better understand\, develop\, sustain\, and expand intergenerational oppor tunities in the context of British Columbia. Rachelle experienced amazing intergenerational relationships growing up and is passionate about the ben efits these programs can bring to individuals and the community. She has p revious experience in the public health and community health sectors with a specific focus on older adults’ social health and well-being.

er’s student in the Department of Gerontology at Simon Fraser University.
Cari is project manager for the Public Health Agency of Canada-funded res
earch project titled Dementia-inclusive Streets and Community Access\, Par
ticipation\, and Engagement (DemSCAPE). Through innovative use of videogr
aphy and walk-along interviews with people living in the community with de
mentia\, this study aims to identify common neighbourhood destinations and
built environmental features that affect mobility\, engagement and partic
ipation. The purpose of this research is to generate evidence-based knowle
dge\, tools\, and resources for informing policy and practice with the goa
l to develop dementia-friendly communities (DFCs).

Mel Brooks’ films are known

l explore how Brooks achieved this balance in his seismic hit The Producer
s\, and controversies around his brazen Hitler-meets-hilarity approach.
\nAdam Roberts will analyze the original 1967 film and the 2001 Broadwa
y stage adaptation\, considering the critical reception of each work\, as
he peeks behind the zeitgeist of this unlikely fable.

\nLet me introduce myself to you. I’m a healthy and active mem ber of my community and present the following:
\nDuring my 35-year c areer with the Province of BC\, my accomplishments included:
\n· Sup ervising large field survey crews locating new highways throughout the pro vince\,
\n· Led a team of specialists ensuring and improving provinc ial departments’ safety programs\, and
\n· Overseeing the southweste rn region of BC within the Provincial Emergency Program (PEP) working with local authorities and helping them to succeed in developing\, updating\, and managing their emergency preparedness and business continuity plans. p>\n

A year following my retirement I established my own consu lting firm that:
\n· Aided private\, public\, and Indigenous peoples in how to better meet their due diligence in being prepared for unplanned eventualities\, and
\n· Agreed to participate and eventually lead s ubject-matter-experts in the development of national and international sta ndards through the Canadian Standards Association (CSA)\; the Standards Co uncil of Canada (SCC)\; and\, the International Association for Standardiz ation (ISO).
\n\n
On behalf of my community\, this province\, and our country\, I continue to
\n· Serve as vice-chair to the BC G ov’t Retired Employees’ Assoc. – Cheam View Branch (Upper Fraser) as well as the 2nd VP of the provincial executive
\n· Represent the BCGREA B ranch as liaison with the Council of Senior Citizens Organizations (COSCO)
\n· Volunteer as a Workshop Facilitator for both COSCO and the Seni ors Health and Wellness Institute (SHWI)
\n· Represent provincial an d national ‘interest groups’ advocating more inclusion for our ageing soci ety as a Consumer Representative within the CSA\, SCC\, and ISO.

\nMIGUEL MENDEZ is a Mexican clinical psychologist w ith a master’s degree in Family Therapy. For the past 10 years\, he has de dicated his career to helping people become their best selves. In 2017\, h e founded an online therapy platform called Psycolocity\, which has allowe d him to assist people from all over the world in finding emotional well-b eing. Since arriving in Vancouver in 2021\, he has been giving talks and w orkshops on emotional health at community centers and neighborhood houses like The Gathering Place and Collingwood Neighborhood House. For the past 6 months\, he has been working as a facilitator for the Senior Peer Counse lling program at The Jewish Seniors Alliance.

in Jewish Studies from Concordia University\, with an MA thesis on the his
