Mel Brooks’ films are known
for walking the tightrope between comedy and real-world commentary. We wil
l explore how Brooks achieved this balance in his seismic hit The Producer
s\, and controversies around his brazen Hitler-meets-hilarity approach.
\nAdam Roberts will analyze the original 1967 film and the 2001 Broadwa
y stage adaptation\, considering the critical reception of each work\, as
he peeks behind the zeitgeist of this unlikely fable.
